Occupational
Therapist

Our Mobile Occupational Therapy services are a fulfilling and rewarding experience. An Occupational Therapist (OT) work with people to complete the activities that they need and want to do each and every day. Occupational therapy (OT) treatment focuses on helping people with a physical, sensory, or cognitive disability to be as independent as possible in all areas of their lives.

Our team of Senior Mobile Occupational Therapists can support you/and or some you care for a better quality of life. Our OT’s utilise the latest research and technologies in their field to assess and design rehabilitation programs that are evidenced based, efficient and effective ensuring you/and or some you care for are always receiving first class services.

People with Disabilities & NDIS Participants

People living with disability are challenged daily by their condition. Physio Inq OT's work with their clients to achieve their goals for participation, independence and well-being. As an NDIS provider, Physio Inq OT can support your NDIS plan with assistive technology, home modifications, capacity building, improved daily living assessments and subsequent recommendations. Physio Inq OT provides consultations for physical and cognitive disabilities.

Aged Care

As people age, they can find it increasingly harder to maintain their independence and to continue enjoying the activites they once did. Occupational therapy can provide much-needed value and assistance. A Physio Inq OT can evaluate each person and determine what changes they need to make both in themselves and their homes, in order to continue enjoying their independence.

Ageing brings with it challenges to perform activities, Physio Inq OT’s work with you to maintain independence. This is achieved by assessing people to maintain access to their home, reduce risk of falling while completing the activity they complete daily and identifying strategies or equipment that supports people to continue to complete these tasks.

Our Occupational Therapists have all the equipment and skill-sets they need to carry out in home treatments of any type. Whether it be:

  • Home modifications

Frequently Asked Questions

How does Occupational Therapy work?

Occupational Therapy practice involves assessing a client to understand what occupations (activities) are important to the person, what difficulties, barriers or challenges they be experiencing in performing these activities, and what goals the person has in relation to their occupations

What does an Occupational Therapy session consist of ?

Appointments may vary depending on your individual goals and may include:

  • Assessment and trialling of different equipment to meet your needs (for example wheelchairs, beds, lifters)
  • Measurement and assessment for environmental modifications (for example ramps, rails, different taps)
  • Implementation of a tailored therapeutic program for upper limb rehabilitation (for example post injury or after a stroke)
  • Trial and implementation of adaptive equipment to assist in daily activities (for example adaptive kitchen aides like a kettle tipper or modified chopping board)
  • Development and implementation of a skill building program (for example to build skills to become independent in areas of your life – meal preparation, time management, grocery shopping, community access)

What happens at the first visit?

Your first Occupational Therapy session would generally be about gathering information about you, and how you go about your day-to-day life. This helps us to put together a picture of what your life consists of, so that we are able to develop an intervention pathway that is relevant, meaningful and goal oriented, to suit your individual needs.

What do I need to bring along to my first appointment

Most importantly yourself, and any information from your doctor or other medical professionals that may assist us in understanding what your needs are. If you are an NDIS participant, a copy of your NDIS Plan Goals is also helpful to guide our assessment and identify what areas you may require our input.

What should I wear for my first consultation?

Something comfortable, that is easy to move around in. We may wish to observe the way you move around so supportive, non-slip footwear is also recommended to ensure you are safest when mobilising.

How much does it cost?

Our prices vary dependent upon service type. NDIS rates are subject to change, and generally base upon NDIS price guide gazetted rates. It is best to check with us before booking your initial and on-going appointments.

How do I pay for my treatment?

If you are a private client, or are self-managing your NDIS package, payment can be made in person via EFT payments using Square, or over the phone, at the time of session. If a funding body such as NDIS, HCP, DVA funds your sessions we invoice the funding body for the services.

How long are the consultations?

Consultation length varies dependent on your individual needs. Our initial consultations may take up to 2 hours, and follow up sessions may vary but most commonly are an hour in duration.

Do I need a referral?

If you are seeking a private OT and fund this yourselves, a referral is not needed.
If you are seeking an OT via DVA, Home Care Package, or EPC, a referral is required.
If you are an NDIS participant, a referral is not required, however we do encourage you to discuss this with your Support Coordinator if you have one involved.

What areas in North Sydney do you cover?

We are currently covering Neutral Bay, Mosman, Waverton, Crows Nest, St Leonards, Artarmon, Willoughby and Chatswood.

What is the difference between Occupational Therapy and Physiotherapy?

The main difference between Occupational Therapy and Physiotherapy is that a Physiotherapist looks at how your BODY functions, within your environment, and treatment is based around getting your body to function better. An OT looks at how you, as a PERSON, functions within your environment as a whole

What are the waiting times to see an Occupational Therapist for the first time?

Our wait times vary, but usually the maximum wait time would be approximately 2 weeks.

My relative cannot speak English, I would like to attend the treatment session with them in order to translate, is this ok?

This is okay, however we would usually opt to have an interpreter present at the session as well, just to ensure everything is communicated effectively, and is required in the event that we need to administer a standardized assessment.

Feel stronger.
Move better.
Think clearer.
