What Is Mobile Speech Pathology?

Speech pathology is an evidence-based allied health discipline focused on assessing and treating communication and swallowing disorders. Speech pathologists work with people of all ages to support speech, language, voice, fluency, literacy and the safe management of eating and drinking.

Mobile speech pathology takes this support directly to the client. Rather than attending a clinic, our speech pathologists travel to the home, school, workplace or community setting where daily life happens. This allows assessment and therapy to be conducted in real-world environments, making support more relevant, effective and accessible; particularly for people who face barriers to clinic attendance.

At Physio Inq, our mobile speech pathologists are Speech Pathology Australia-certified clinicians who deliver assessment and therapy across a wide range of communication and swallowing needs. We work collaboratively with clients, families, carers, teachers and other allied health professionals to ensure support is coordinated and goal-directed.

What our mobile speech pathologists can help with:

  • Speech sound development and articulation
  • Expressive and receptive language skills
  • Stuttering and fluency support
  • Voice disorders
  • Literacy and phonological awareness
  • Augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) assessment and training
  • Swallowing assessment and dysphagia management
  • Social communication and pragmatic language
  • Communication support for neurological conditions
  • Feeding difficulties in children and adults

All programs are developed collaboratively with the client, their family and the broader care team, and adjusted regularly to reflect progress and changing goals.

How We Deliver Mobile Speech Pathology

Physio Inq delivers mobile speech pathology across three service channels, ensuring flexible, accessible support regardless of location or circumstances.

In Your Home

Home-based speech pathology allows therapy to take place in the environment where communication and eating most commonly occur. This is particularly valuable for swallowing assessments, mealtime management programs and functional communication goals, where the real-world context significantly improves the relevance and effectiveness of support. Home visits remove the burden of travel and allow sessions to take place in a familiar, comfortable setting. Our speech pathologists coordinate closely with families, carers and support workers to ensure strategies are understood and applied consistently between visits.

In Your Community

For clients with goals related to communication in school, work or social settings, Physio Inq can deliver speech pathology in those environments. This includes school-based programs, workplace communication support and community participation goals.

Online (Telehealth)

Telehealth speech pathology is available for assessments, therapy sessions, parent coaching and follow-up consultations. Many aspects of speech pathology are highly effective via telehealth, and it is particularly useful for clients in regional or remote areas or for regular check-in sessions between in-person visits.
