The City of Kalamunda is located in Perth's south-eastern suburbs, about 24 kilometres from the Perth CBD. The City of Kalamunda is bounded by the City of Swan in the north, the Shire of Mundaring in the east, the Cities of Armadale and Gosnells in the south, and the Cities of Canning and Belmont in the west.

This 1881 hand-built cottage was the family home of early hills settlers Frederick and Elizabeth Stirk, and their nine children. It was the first dwelling in Kalamunda locality and quite isolated. Materials for wall framework, roof and floor were found on the Stirk’s ten acre bush property using their own labour with simple tools.
Located within the stunningly-designed Zig Zag Cultural Centre, the PHVC offers the visitor a full range of information about where to go, what to do and where to stay in the Perth Hills.
Kalamunda History Village is local History Museum and is located on the site of the old Upper Darling Range Railway Station built in the 1890s.
