Hornsby Shire

Hornsby is located in Sydney’s North, just about 25km from Sydney CBD, and is the first major employment hub for people commuting from the Central Coast. Hornsby Shire covers approximately 510 square kilometers, extending from Brooklyn in the north, to Wisemans Ferry and Glenorie/Dural, including 6,000 hectares of public bushland for which Council is responsible.

Located in Sydney's north, Ku-ring-gai Chase National Park combines important history with scenic beauty, making it perfect for school excursions. Bobbin Head is a great place for a family picnic, and parts of the park are ideal for cycling, fishing and bushwalking.
With beautifully manicured gardens, 55 hectares of rolling green space and fabulous picnic and playground facilities, Fagan Park is one of Hornsby Shire’s most popular attractions and is perfect for a day out. Explore the Gardens of Many Nations, which covers 10 hectares with 11 stunning themed gardens including Japanese, Dutch, Chinese and Mediterranean.
The Riverboat Postman delivers the daily mail to the isolated settlements of the Lower Hawkesbury River. Sightseers and locals can join the run as it departs Brooklyn every weekday, and enjoy morning tea and lunch on the boat as it cruises up the river. This is a truly historic trip which has been in operation since about 1910, delivering the mail on behalf of Australia Post.
