Amberley Aged Care Occupational Therapy Industry Leaders
Aged care occupational therapy is occupational therapy tailored to the needs of older Australians. It focuses on supporting older adults to continue doing the everyday activities that matter to them safely, confidently and with as much independence as possible, in the environments where they live and spend their time.
At Physio Inq, our aged care occupational therapists deliver assessment and support in the home and residential aged care settings, providing recommendations and interventions that are immediately relevant to the client’s actual environment. From home safety assessments and equipment prescription to daily living retraining and cognitive support, our approach is practical, respectful and focused on the individual’s goals.
We work with older Australians accessing a range of funding pathways, including the Support at Home program (formerly Home Care Package), the Commonwealth Home Support Programme (CHSP) and private funding.
What our aged care occupational therapists can help with:
- Home safety assessment and fall prevention recommendations
- Home modification assessment and reports for funding applications
- Assistive equipment prescription, including bathroom aids, grab rails and mobility aids
- Activities of daily living (ADL) assessment and retraining
- Cognitive assessment and daily routine support
- Dementia care strategies and environmental modifications
- Driving cessation support and community transport planning
- Carer and family education and training
- Fatigue and energy conservation strategies
- Coordination with Home Care Package providers and case managers
Every assessment and treatment plan is developed in close consultation with the client, their family or carer, and the broader care team.
How We Deliver Aged Care Occupational Therapy
Physio Inq delivers aged care occupational therapy across three service channels, ensuring older Australians can access support in the way that is most appropriate and accessible for their circumstances.
In Your Home
Home-based aged care occupational therapy is the most common and effective model for older Australians. Conducting assessments in the actual home environment allows our therapists to identify specific hazards, recommend targeted modifications and prescribe equipment that is appropriate for the existing layout and the client’s daily routines.
Home visits remove the physical and logistical demands of travelling to a clinic, which is particularly important for older Australians with reduced mobility or complex care needs.
In Residential Aged Care
For older Australians living in residential aged care, our occupational therapists provide assessment and support within the facility. This includes activities of daily living assessment, cognitive support, equipment prescription and collaboration with facility staff and care managers.
Online (Telehealth)
Telehealth occupational therapy is available for older Australians who are comfortable with video consultations, for follow-up sessions, or for carer coaching and education sessions that do not require a physical visit.
