If you're a NDIS participant or supporting a loved one through the scheme, recent changes may have left you feeling uncertain, stressed or emotionally exhausted.
Conversations around funding, plan reviews and future supports are becoming more common, and for many people, those conversations feel deeply personal.
When support systems change, it is completely normal to feel anxious about what that could mean for daily life, independence and the future.
But you do not have to navigate these changes alone
Why These Changes Can Feel So Overwhelming
The NDIS was built around the idea of choice, control and greater independence. When supports, funding or processes begin to change, it can create uncertainty about what comes next.
For some people, these changes bring back memories of having to constantly fight for support. For others, it creates concern about losing progress, becoming isolated, or not knowing where to turn for help.
These emotional responses are valid.
Stress, frustration, sadness and anxiety are common reactions during periods of uncertainty, especially when the changes affect your health, wellbeing and everyday life.
Ignoring those feelings rarely makes things easier. Acknowledging them, seeking support and focusing on practical next steps can help restore a sense of control and stability.
Practical Ways to Support Your Emotional Wellbeing
While many of the broader NDIS changes are outside your control, there are still small and meaningful steps you can take to support your emotional wellbeing.
Acknowledge how you are feeling
Simply recognising and naming emotions such as stress or anxiety can help reduce their intensity. Talking openly with someone you trust can also make a meaningful difference.
Focus on what you can influence
You may not be able to control broader reforms, but you can stay organised, prepare for reviews, strengthen your supports and surround yourself with people who understand your goals.
Create small moments of progress
Simple activities that create connection, movement or enjoyment can help restore routine and confidence. Small wins still matter.
Seek emotional support when needed
Psychology, counselling, peer support groups and community services can all play an important role during stressful periods.
Stay connected to your community
Whether it is family, friends, support groups or local organisations, connection helps reduce isolation and reminds people they are not facing these challenges alone.

How Physio Inq Supports Participants Through Change
At Physio Inq, we understand that therapy is about much more than just clinical goals. It is also about feeling supported, understood and confident in your everyday life.
We provide mobile, in-home and community-based allied health services across Australia, supporting NDIS participants in the environments where they feel most comfortable.
Our multidisciplinary team includes physiotherapists, occupational therapists, speech pathologists and exercise physiologists who work together to support both practical outcomes and emotional wellbeing.
We take the time to understand each participant’s goals, challenges and concerns before developing therapy plans tailored to what matters most to them.
For some people, that may mean improving mobility and confidence to participate more independently in the community.
For others, it may mean building communication skills, creating routines that reduce stress, or developing practical strategies that make everyday life feel more manageable.
Most importantly, we aim to provide consistent, reliable support during times that can otherwise feel uncertain.
You Are Not Facing This Alone
The NDIS continues to evolve, and it is understandable for participants and families to feel unsettled, sad or angry by change.
But uncertainty does not mean you have to lose confidence in your future.
With the right information, the right support team and practical strategies in place, it is possible to move forward with greater clarity, stability and reassurance.
At Physio Inq we’ve walked alongside thousands of participants through every stage of NDIS evolution. We see the person first, the plan second, and we’re committed to making sure you never feel alone in this.
If you would like support navigating change, building confidence or strengthening your independence, our team is here to help.
