Understand how EP and Physio Fit into Your NDIS Plan

Originally Published Apr 1, 2021

Ever wondered how Physiotherapy and Exercise Physiology, in clinic, fit into your NDIS plan?  Or maybe you or your loved one are trying to work through the jargon? Here, we’re going to give 3 examples of the way our clients use their NDIS plan funds to access Physiotherapy and Exercise Physiology at Physio Inq Sutherland.

The NDIS helps people get the disability support they need. It could be for intellectual, physical, sensory, cognitive or psychosocial disability, or even early intervention support for children with development delay.

Within your NDIS plan, whether it be self-managed or plan-managed, children or adults, you will be told what funding you have been allocated under each “support budget” and in each “support category” to help you achieve your goals for improving skills and independence over time.

For example, you may get approved funding for Physiotherapy and Exercise Physiology sessions to help you develop the skills you need to get more from your day-to-day life and participate in the community independently. This would be under the category / budget for “Capacity Building Improved Daily Living”. The majority of our clients we see in clinic on NDIS plan access funds this way.

Meet the Unsung Heroes of the NDIS

Meet Michelle

Meet Michelle, she is one of the 40,000 people in Australia with Cerebral Palsy. This is her story... One of tenacity and perseverance.

Meet Rod

At 70 years young, life isn't as easy as it once was for the former railroad worker. A degenerative spinal condition has limited Rod's movement and function.

Another example, you may get approved funding for Exercise Physiology sessions to manage the impact of your disability through exercise. This would be under the category / budget for “Capacity Building Health & Wellbeing”.

Finally, you may get approved funding for Physiotherapy and Exercise Physiology assessments to help you with everyday needs and activities. This would be under the category / budget for “Core Assistance with Daily Life”.

Our most memorable, the greatest, client success stories often come from NDIS participants. We look forward to welcoming you and your loved ones through our doors so we can work out how to help you get the most out of life.
